School's Out!

I still am not sure how to rearrange pictures (and am too tired to figure it out), so in no particular order, this was our last week of school . . . Amy's class went bowling on Friday to celebrate the last day.

On Thursday, they had a graduation ceremony. This school has 6th grade included in the lower school so they have a graduation at the end of that grade. Amy also graduated from elementary school (after 5th grade), kindergarten, and pre-k. I have seen her walk down the aisle to pomp and circumstance (sp?) FOUR times. Now that we are planning to homeschool, she may or may not participate in a high school graduation ceremony, but I won't feel cheated - I've seen her go through it already!!! Seriously, it was a neat ceremony including a prayer of blessing and Scripture readings.

Brooke's class went to the bowling alley on Thursday. They had a class yard sale to practice counting money and made $130!!! They spent their money on an ice cream party and a bowling/pizza/glow golf day.

Amy's class managed to squeeze in one last field trip on Tuesday to the Little White House in Warm Springs. This is a fantastic facility and the house is preserved beautifully. They closed it the day after FDR died and reopened it as a museum two years later, so it is arranged just as it was when he used it.

In the midst of all that, Christina got the furniture from Grandpa and Grandma's guest room. I took a nap on this bed on Sunday and it brought back memories from many, many cousin sleepovers. This was the bed I always slept on. It seemed much bigger back then.
So, school is out and the Great Homeschooling Adventure has begun. Even though we won't start school until August, I feel more relaxed and more peaceful already.
